SANTA ROSA, CA - The Bakersfield College men's swimming team wrapped up an outstanding 2025 season with a 7th-place finish at the 3C2A State Championships, held May 1–3. The Renegades qualified five individual swimmers and five relay teams, competing in a total of 18 events over the three-day meet.
Sophomore Cody Hart made program history by winning BC's first-ever state title in the 50 freestyle, breaking the school record. Hart continued his standout performance by placing 2nd in the 100 free and 3rd in the 200 free, both new school records.
The Renegades also earned a 2nd-place finish and a new school record in the 800 free relay, thanks to the team of Hart, Emi Ibarra, David Hernandez, and Dawson Hoff. The same quartet also placed 5th in the 400 free relay and 8th in the 200 medley relay. Another relay highlight included a 16th-place finish in the 400 medley relay (Hernandez, Jaxon Willard, Youssef Farouk, Ethan Cobbs).
Individually, BC swimmers made significant finals appearances:

Emi Ibarra placed 13th in the 500 free, 10th in the 100 butterfly, and 16th in the 200 butterfly.

Dawson Hoff earned 10th in the 50 free, 8th in the 100 backstroke, and 9th in the 200 backstroke.

David Hernandez placed 9th in the 100 backstroke and 8th in the 200 backstroke.

Ayden Carballo finished 16th in the grueling 1650 freestyle.
With record-setting swims and a top-10 state finish, the Renegades showcased a powerful mix of talent, teamwork, and momentum that sets the bar high for future BC swim teams.
