Zimmerman Leads Renegades at WSC Meet #2 with Three Event Wins

VALLEY GLEN, CA - The Bakersfield College men's swim team turned in a strong performance at the Western State Conference (WSC) Meet #2 at LA Valley, highlighted by multiple top-10 finishes and two individual victories from sophomore Jacob Zimmerman.

Zimmerman led the way for the Renegades with dominant performances in the sprint events, capturing first place in the 50-yard freestyle (21.53) and first place in the 100-yard freestyle (49.49) to lead Bakersfield on the day.

Sophomore David Hernandez also delivered a strong showing with a pair of podium finishes. Hernandez placed third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.60) and fourth in the 100-yard butterfly (56.79), contributing valuable points for the Renegades.

Distance swimmer Nicolas Lira added two top-10 finishes, placing eighth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:23.72) and ninth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.48).

Additional top-10 finishes came from Manuel Castro, who placed 10th in the 100-yard freestyle (55.48), and Luke Butterworth, who recorded ninth-place finishes in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.73) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:31.45).

The Renegades will take a much needed rest this weekend and get back to competing next Friday at Allen Hancock.
