Renegades Shine in Lone Home Meet at Garces Memorial

BAKERSFIELD, CA. - In their only home competition of the season, the Bakersfield College men's swim team delivered a dominant performance while hosting at Garces Memorial High School due to ongoing construction at their home pool.

The Renegades were led by an outstanding showing from Jacob Zimmerman, who captured four gold medals and one silver, finishing with a meet-high 533.3 points. Close behind was David Hernandez, who matched the gold medal count with four first-place finishes and one silver, totaling 485.6 points to give Bakersfield a powerful 1-2 finish.

Bakersfield's depth was on full display throughout the meet. Gasser Rezk contributed with a gold medal and three bronze finishes, while Nicolas Lira added to the medal count with one gold, two silver, and two bronze medals. Bensin Alvarez also made an impact with two silver and one bronze, and Luke Butterworth chipped in with three podium finishes of his own.

Additional contributions came from Manuel Castro, who secured a gold and bronze, and Kevin Valenzuela, who added two bronze medals. Bakersfield continued to stack points with strong efforts from Alexander Vallejan, Blake Chase-Patton, Anthony Guillen, Samuel Handy, and Mateo Alvarez, all reaching the podium.

Despite the temporary change in venue, the Renegades made the most of their home opportunity. BC will take the week to rest from competition and get ready for the Western State Conference Championships next weekend starting on Thursday, April 16th.
