Renegades Represent Strongly at 3C2A State Championships

VENTURA, CA -The Bakersfield College men's tennis team wrapped up an impressive showing at the 3C2A State Championships, with six student-athletes competing across four days of high-level competition from Thursday through Sunday.

Leading the way for the Renegades was the doubles team of sophomore Axl Lajon Gonzaga and freshman Shang En Kao, who made a deep run to the semifinals. Their performance marks the highest finish for a BC men's doubles pair in at least the last five years, highlighting a standout postseason effort.

On the singles side, freshman Mateusz Lipczynski led the way for Bakersfield College, advancing to the quarterfinals to earn the team's highest individual finish in the tournament. Gonzaga also competed in singles, advancing to the Round of 16 and showcasing his versatility and endurance throughout the week.

Freshmen Bruce Jamie and Orlando VanKan also made their mark in doubles play, reaching the Round of 16. VanKan competed in singles as well, battling his way into the Round of 64.

The duo of Zeb Duket and Chin Wu represented BC in doubles, competing in the Round of 64.

Across a long and demanding four days of competition, the Renegades demonstrated growth, closing out the season with a strong presence at the state level and continued momentum for the program next season.
