BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College men's track and field team delivered a strong all-around performance, finishing second overall at the El Camino College 5-Way Meet.
Freshman Jacob Quezeda led the charge on the track, capturing first-place finishes in both the 800m (2:02.08) and the 1500m (4:08.59 PR). The Renegades' sprint group also showed depth, highlighted by personal records in the 100m from Angel Corona (11.32), Christian McCoy Perez (11.43), Cordayr Brown (11.65), and Daveyon Herron (12.03). The 4x100 relay "A" team placed second in 44.89, while the "B" squad followed closely in third.
In the 400m, Bakersfield packed the top six with four scorers, including PR performances from Aiden Nicholson (4th, 53.25), Brogen Sauer, and Aiden Clark. Nicholson also contributed to the 4x400 relay, helping the "A" team to a fourth-place finish.
The distance crew added valuable points, with Edgar Gil placing fifth in the 1500m (4:13.82 PR), while Josue Valladares and Adrian Rodriguez recorded personal bests in their events.
The throwers dominated the field events. Freshman Mason Level was a standout, winning both the discus (36.93m) and hammer throw (42.65m) while also placing fourth in the javelin (38.76m PR). The Renegades swept the top three spots in the hammer throw and packed the top six in shot put, with Donavan Garcia (2nd, 12.39m PR) and Israel Rivera (3rd, 12.18m PR) leading the way.
In the jumps, Cordayr Brown earned second in the long jump (6.27m), and Kai Wilkins cleared a PR of 1.85m to place third in the high jump.
