BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College men's track and field team delivered several strong performances this weekend, highlighted by multiple event victories and top-10 finishes across both track and field events.
Freshman Jacob Quezada led the Renegades with two outstanding performances, winning the 800 meters in 2:00.34 and capturing another victory in the 3000m steeplechase with a personal-best time of 10:26.51. Teammates William Hernandez and Orlando Zuniga also placed in the steeplechase, finishing fourth (11:12.52 PB) and fifth (11:19.00 PB) respectively.
Freshman Edgar Gil added another win for Bakersfield in the 5000 meters, finishing first with a personal-best time of 16:25.35.
In the field events, freshman Mason Level had a standout day, winning the hammer throw with a mark of 43.83m while also placing fourth in the discus (40.32m PB) and fourth in the javelin (39.48m PB) to lead a strong showing from the Renegade throwers.
Freshman Kai Wilkins cleared 1.95 meters to win the high jump, marking a personal best and another event victory for Bakersfield.
Additional top finishes included Samiar Grady, who placed second in the triple jump (13.73m PB), and Orlando Zuniga, who earned a third-place finish in the 400m hurdles (1:03.58 PB).
Freshman Angel Corona also turned in a top-10 sprint performance, finishing 10th in the 200 meters with a personal-best time of 22.87. In the 400 meters, Joaquin Garcia placed ninth with a time of 53.91.
The Renegades also saw strong performances in the throws with Israel Rivera (5th), Donavan Garcia (6th), Landon Monreal (7th), and Alexander Rosas (8th) all finishing in the top eight of the shot put.
In the decathlon, sophomore Talen Monaco finished second overall with a personal-best 4,481 points, highlighting Bakersfield's strong weekend across multiple disciplines.
