FRESNO, CA - The Bakersfield College softball team opened the 2026 season on the road Friday afternoon, taking on Fresno in the opener. While the Renegades fell 8–0 in a run-rule decision, the contest provided valuable early-season experience for a young Bakersfield squad facing a strong Fresno lineup.
Offensively, Bakersfield collected four hits and showed patience at the plate, drawing four walks in the five-inning contest. Lexi Rolin led the way, going 2-for-3 and recording the Renegades' lone extra-base hit with a double. Alexia Marquez and Jennifer Padilla each added hits, while Alexia Martinez reached base twice via walks.
Defensively, Bakersfield turned in several solid plays, with Rolin anchoring the infield and Sophie Oliver and Emily Hernandez covering ground in the outfield. Despite a few early miscues, the Renegades settled in and limited Fresno to just three runs over the final two innings.
In the circle, Alexia Martinez worked 4.1 innings in relief.
The Renegades will travel to Saddleback College on Tuesday and return home Friday to host Fresno and Fullerton College.
