Martinez Tosses Complete Game Shutout as Renegades Open Conference with Win

GLENDALE, CA - The Bakersfield College softball team opened conference play with a strong performance on Thursday, defeating Glendale 2–0 on the road at Glendale Sports Complex.

Sophomore Alexia Martinez led the way for the Renegades, delivering a complete-game shutout in the circle. Martinez scattered seven hits across seven innings, striking out five and issuing no walks to earn her fifth win of the season.

Bakersfield broke through in the third inning when Lexi Rolin drove in the game's first run with an RBI triple, giving the Renegades a 1–0 lead. The offense added an insurance run in the sixth inning as Isabella Harrison came around to score, extending the advantage to two.

Martinez also contributed at the plate, going 2-for-3, while Sophie Oliver and Rolin added hits as Bakersfield collected five total hits in the game.

Despite Glendale recording seven hits, the Renegades' defense held strong, keeping the Vaqueros off the scoreboard to secure the 2–0 victory and start conference play 1–0.
