Road Struggles Continue as Renegades Drop Pair on Saturday at Home

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College softball team continued to battle through a tough stretch to close out March, dropping both games of a Saturday doubleheader and falling to 1-9 over their last 10 contests.

In game one against Cuesta, the Renegades came up just short in a 4-3 loss despite outhitting their opponent 8-9. Bakersfield showed late life, plating three runs over the final two innings, highlighted by a home run from Elizabeth Alderete and an RBI from Isabella Harrison. Maddy Ortiz led the offense with a strong 3-for-4 performance at the plate. Alexia Martinez delivered a solid outing in the circle, striking out eight over 6.1 innings while allowing just two earned runs, but a late push by Cuesta proved to be the difference.

Game two saw the Renegades struggle to find offensive rhythm in a 9-0 loss to Grossmont. Bakersfield was limited to just two hits on the game, with Alexia Marquez and Andrea Barajas accounting for both. Grossmont capitalized on timely hitting and a big sixth inning to pull away.

BC will host a pair of conference games this week against Glendale on Tuesday and LA Valley on Thursday.
