BAKERSFIELD, CA. - The Bakersfield College softball team battled through a back-and-forth contest on Tuesday afternoon, ultimately securing a 9-8 walk-off victory over Glendale to get back in the win column.
Glendale jumped out early, but Bakersfield responded in the bottom half of the first and continued to chip away, setting the stage for late-inning heroics.
Leading the offensive charge was Alexia Marquez, who delivered a standout performance, going 2-for-4 with a home run and 4 RBIs. Her big swings kept the Renegades within striking distance and provided key momentum shifts throughout the game. Lexi Rolin added to the effort with two hits and 2 RBIs, while Maddy Ortiz paced the lineup with a 3-for-5 performance. Isabella Harrison also made an impact at the top of the order, reaching base consistently with two hits and three walks, scoring twice.
In the circle, Bakersfield utilized a trio of pitchers, with Alexia Martinez carrying the bulk of the workload over seven innings. Cassidy Torres came in late and shut the door in the final frame, giving the offense a chance to complete the comeback.
The Renegades rallied in their final at-bat, pushing across the decisive run to walk it off and secure the 9-8 victory. The win marks an important bounce-back moment for Bakersfield as they look to build momentum moving forward.
