BAKERSFIELD, CA. - The Bakersfield College softball team delivered one of its most dominant offensive performances of the season, cruising to a 17-4 victory over LA Valley on Thursday afternoon.
The Renegades wasted no time setting the tone, plating two runs in the first inning before erupting for 11 runs in the second to take full control of the game. Bakersfield's lineup was relentless from top to bottom, finishing with 17 hits and 16 RBIs in the five-inning contest.
Isabella Harrison led the charge at the top of the order, going 2-for-3 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBIs, while Lillian Visser had a perfect day at the plate, finishing 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Lexi Rolin added a big swing with 3 RBIs, and Maddy Ortiz stayed hot, going a perfect 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs. Alexia Martinez also played a key role, reaching base four times and scoring three runs.
In the circle, Martinez handled the workload, tossing all five innings while striking out nine batters and limiting LA Valley to just five hits.
After LA Valley pushed across four runs late, Bakersfield responded with additional insurance to secure the run-rule victory. Up next, BC heads out for the road with two road conference games before returning home next Saturday against Mt. SAC.
