SYLMAR, CA. - The Bakersfield College softball team recorded 10 hits on the day but came up short in a 7-3 loss to LA Mission on Tuesday afternoon.
The Renegades got off to a solid start, scoring in each of the first two innings. Alexia Marquez drove in a run, while Maddy Ortiz led the offense with a strong performance at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs. Bakersfield added another run in the fourth to take an early 3-1 lead.
Despite the early momentum, LA Mission responded with a big third inning and pulled away with four runs in the fifth to take control of the game.
Bakersfield saw contributions throughout the lineup, including multi-hit efforts from Ortiz and key hits from Isabella Harrison, Alexia Martinez, and Andrea Barajas. Elizabeth Alderete reached base three times and added a double, while Emily Hernandez and Lillian Visser also chipped in hits.
In the circle, Alexia Martinez got the start before Cassidy Torres and Lillian Visser combined in relief. Visser closed out the game strong, not allowing a run over the final innings.
The Renegades will play another road game at Citrus on Thursday before returning home on Saturday to take on Mt. SAC at 1:00PM.
