Renegades Rally Past AVC, Hand Marauders First Conference Loss

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College softball team snapped its three-game losing streak in dramatic fashion on Tuesday, rallying for a 7-6 win over Antelope Valley College at home and handing the Marauders their first conference loss of the season.

After falling behind 5-0 through the first three innings, the Renegades chipped away before putting together a late comeback. Bakersfield scored once in the fourth, added two more in the fifth and tied the game with a three-run sixth inning before walking it off in the seventh.

Alexia Marquez led the offense with a huge day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. Her homer in the sixth inning helped spark the comeback.

Isabella Harrison also had a strong performance, finishing 3-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base, while Lexi Rolin went 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored.

In the decisive seventh inning, Bakersfield used timely hitting to complete the comeback. Cassidy Torres delivered an RBI single, while Elizabeth Alderete and Andrea Barajas each drove in runs during the rally.

Inside the circle, Alexia Martinez provided a steady relief effort after entering in the third inning. She tossed five innings, allowing just one run on six hits while helping Bakersfield keep AVC off the board long enough for the offense to respond.

The Renegades finished with 13 hits in the win and earned one of their biggest victories of conference play by ending Antelope Valley's unbeaten run.

BC will play a doubleheader on Saturday before retuning home for its final game of the season on Tuesday, April 21st for a 2:00PM first pitch.
