Renegades Roll on Sophomore Day, Take Down Canyons 8-2

BAKERSFIELD, CA – Bakersfield College softball closed out the regular season in style Tuesday afternoon, defeating Canyons 8-2 on Sophomore Day at home. The victory marks a strong finish for the Renegades as they now await postseason positioning, which will be determined following tomorrow evening's results.

At the conclusion of the game, BC honored its sophomore class for their contributions to the program, and the group delivered in a big way.

The Renegades wasted no time getting on the board, scoring two runs in the first inning and never looking back. BC continued to apply pressure offensively, adding runs in four of the first five innings behind a 13-hit performance.

Sophomore Lexi Rolin led the charge, going 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Maddy Ortiz followed with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate, driving in two runs and scoring once. Elizabeth Alderete added a strong performance with two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI, while Samantha Fuentes chipped in a key RBI hit off the bench.

In the circle, Alexia Martinez delivered a complete game effort, allowing just five hits and two runs (one earned) while keeping the Canyons offense in check throughout all seven innings.

Canyons managed to score single runs in the second and sixth innings, but the Renegades' early offensive surge proved too much to overcome.

With the win, Bakersfield closes out the regular season on a high note and now turns its attention to a possible postseason spot. The Renegades will learn their playoff fate following the conclusion of conference play tomorrow evening.

Bakersfield finished the season 19-21 overall and 7-5 in conference.
