Renegades Earn Multiple Podium Finishes at Meathead Mover Tournament

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College wrestling team had a strong showing at this year's Meathead Mover Tournament at Cuesta College, highlighted by several standout performances and a heavyweight title win.

Jonathan Garcia led the way for the Renegades, capturing first place at 285 lbs, winning by fall and major decision before securing the championship by forfeit over teammate Seth Seibert, who finished runner-up.

At 165 lbs, Giovanni Ruiz battled his way to a second-place finish, collecting three first-period pins on his way to the finals.

Luis Acosta-Tackett also earned runner-up honors at 141 lbs, posting three impressive wins—including a sudden victory thriller in the semifinals—before falling just short in the championship match.

Kipp Tyler and Isaac Villalobos both placed at 184 lbs, finishing third and fourth, respectively, while Brendon Ko notched a fifth-place finish at 149 lbs after a series of gritty matches.

Santana Ugues also placed fifth at 133 lbs, earning multiple pins and a dominant major decision in his placement match.

The Renegades will host Lemoore College for its final dual of the season and celebrate their Sophomores for Sophomore Night.
