LEMOORE, CA - Bakersfield College wrestling turned in a strong team performance at the 2025 3C2A SoCal Regional Championships, earning 5th place overall and qualifying nine Renegades for the State Championships.
125 – Santana Ugues (6th Place, State Qualifier)
Ugues opened with a fall and added two tech falls and a decision win on his way to a 6th-place finish. He scored 10.5 team points.
133 – Miguel Barreto Gonzalez
Barreto-Gonzalez battled through the bracket, earning a bye and competing through three consolation rounds.
141 – Luis Acosta Tackett (4th Place, State Qualifier)
Acosta-Tackett earned two major decisions and advanced to the semifinals, finishing 4th and scoring 14 points.
149 – Brendon Ko (6th Place, State Qualifier)
Ko recorded a dominant tech fall and major decision to reach the semifinals, securing 6th place and 9.5 points.
157 – Camden Williams
Williams opened with a tech fall and added valuable team points through multiple competitive rounds.
165 – Giovanni Ruiz (3rd Place, State Qualifier)
Ruiz had one of the team's strongest showings—recording a fall, a decision, and two additional wins to take 3rd place with 16 points.
174 – Elijah Guzman (4th Place, State Qualifier)
Guzman battled back from an opening-round loss, earning two falls and a major decision to place 4th and score 16 points.
184 – Tyler Kipp (6th Place, State Qualifier)
Tyler advanced to the semifinals and finished 6th, contributing 7 points.
184 – Isaac Villalobos (5th Place, State Qualifier)
Villalobos picked up two wins—including a fall—to secure 5th place and score 13 points.
197 – Cash Cancel
Cancel competed through multiple rounds and completed the bracket with a 10th-place finish.
285 – Jonathan Garcia (1st Place, SoCal Champion & State Qualifier)
Garcia dominated his bracket, winning by fall, decision, and a sudden victory thriller in the finals to claim the SoCal Championship. He scored a team-high 24 points.
285 – Seth Seibert (4th Place, State Qualifier)
Seibert earned wins by decision and advanced to the 3rd-place match, finishing 4th with 12 points.
The Renegades will compete for a State Title this Friday and Saturday at the 3C2A Wrestling Championships at Sierra College.
