EL CAMINO, CA - The Bakersfield College women's track and field team competed at the Dave Shannon Invite, highlighted by a first-place finish and multiple top-10 performances across the meet.
Freshman Sofia Moody led the way for the Renegades, capturing the 3000m steeplechase title with a personal-best time of 12:34.65. Her performance marked one of the top highlights of the day and showcased Bakersfield's continued strength in distance events.
In the field events, Karly Mundy had an outstanding meet, recording three top-five finishes. She placed third in both the shot put (10.10m) and hammer throw (37.19m), while also earning a fourth-place finish in the discus with a personal-best mark of 31.31m. Teammates also contributed in the throws, with Kaira Hubble placing eighth in the shot put (8.20m) and sixth in the hammer, while A'leya Bell secured a fifth-place finish in the hammer with a personal-best throw of 26.04m.
Bakersfield also saw success in the jumps, as Cameron Eubanks recorded a seventh-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 4.73m.
On the track, the Renegades showed depth in the middle-distance events. Mia Leisenfelder led the group with a 12th-place finish in the 800m, followed by strong efforts from Ashley Pitter (14th, PR), Alexis Lopez (16th, PR), and Addyson Eggers (17th, PR), all posting personal-best times. The same group competed in the 1500m, with Leisenfelder again leading the way in 11th, while Lopez added another personal best.
Up next, the team will travel to Moorpark for the Moorpark Open on Friday, April 3rd.
