Renegades Secure 7th Place Finish at 3C2A State Duals

FRESNO, CA - The Bakersfield College women's wrestling team competed at the 3C2A State Duals on Saturday, March 7, battling through three dual matches against Palomar, Cuesta, and Lassen. The Renegades closed out the tournament on a high note, defeating Lassen College to secure 7th place.

Bakersfield opened the day in the quarterfinals against Palomar College, where the Comets claimed a 41-12 victory. The Renegades picked up key wins from Jennifer Salinas Cisneros (110) and Mikayla Weller (117), who both secured victories by fall early in their matches. Celia Esquivel (103) also competed in the dual, while several weight classes were forfeited due to lineup gaps.

In the consolation semifinal against Cuesta College, Bakersfield fought in a tightly contested dual but ultimately fell 19-15. The Renegades collected points from Celia Esquivel (103) and Jennifer Salinas Cisneros (110) by forfeit, while Mikayla Weller (124) added a strong win by fall over Ayten Elbarbary.

Bakersfield rebounded in the 7th place match against Lassen College, earning a 19-15 victory to close out the event. Celia Esquivel (103) set the tone with a quick pin in just over a minute, while Jennifer Salinas Cisneros (110) earned another forfeit win. Mikayla Weller (117) continued her impressive day with a technical fall victory, and Cristal Chavez (145) secured a fast fall in 32 seconds to help seal the win for the Renegades.

With the victory over Lassen, Bakersfield finished the tournament 7th overall, highlighted by strong performances from Esquivel, Salinas Cisneros, Weller, and Chavez throughout the day.
