Renegades Roll Past Allan Hancock, Celebrate 70th Anniversary of Memorial Stadium with 33-7 Victory

Bakersfield, CA - On a night filled with history and celebration, the Bakersfield College football team put on a dominant performance to honor the 70th anniversary of Memorial Stadium, defeating Allan Hancock 33-7 on Saturday evening. The win improves the Renegades to 2-0 on the season.

The Renegades wasted no time setting the tone, scoring first on a safety just two minutes into the game. Moments later, kicker Carlos Villa went 40 yards out to extend the lead to 5-0. Early in the second quarter, freshman Corey Watkins Jr. capped a short drive with a 9-yard touchdown run, giving BC a 12-0 cushion.

Allan Hancock briefly shifted momentum with an intercepted pass and returned it 59 yards for a touchdown, cutting the deficit to 12-7. But that would be the Bulldogs' only score of the night.

The third quarter belonged to quarterback and returner Carson Woods and receiver Dylan Johnson. Woods connected with Johnson on an 87-yard strike just seconds into the half, then found him again later in the quarter for a 34-yard touchdown, pushing the game wide open at 26-7.

Running back sophomore Ian Jernigan added the finishing touches in the fourth quarter with a 6-yard touchdown run, sealing the 33-7 victory in front of a spirited home crowd.

The Renegade offense controlled the game, outgaining Hancock 377-137 in total yards and dominating time of possession 33:24 to 26:36. BC's ground attack piled up 189 rushing yards, led by Jernigan's 81 on 15 carries. Woods threw for 157 yards and two touchdowns, while Johnson's two catches went for 121 yards and both scores.

Defensively, Bakersfield controlled the Bulldogs, holding them to just nine rushing yards on 29 attempts. Tyler Lewis and Nathaniel Wallace each snagged interceptions, while the Renegades' front seven kept Hancock from finding any rhythm.

Bakersfield (2-0) continues its strong start to the season as the Renegades look to build off the energy of a special anniversary night at Memorial Stadium. Next, they will travel to Ventura on Saturday.
