BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College men's basketball team won in a double-overtime battle at the Renegade Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon, edging out Reedley College 93–92 in a heart-stopping finish.
Sophomore James Miller led the way for the Renegades, scoring a game-high 29 points on 10-of-21 shooting, including six three-pointers. Markell Brooks turned in a dominant double-double performance with 26 points and 10 rebounds, while Zykiar Henderson was a force on both ends of the floor, finishing with 14 points, nine rebounds, six steals, and six blocks.
The Renegades came out strong, taking a 39–26 halftime lead, but Reedley stormed back in the second half behind CJ Kornegay Jr., who poured in 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Nassef Lubowa added 19 points and nine rebounds, while Devon Marshall chipped in 11 points for the Tigers.
After trading baskets late in regulation and through two overtime periods, Bakersfield's composure down the stretch proved the difference. Clutch free throws and key defensive stops helped the Renegades seal the one-point victory.
As a team, Bakersfield shot 44.7% from the field and hit 11 three-pointers, while their bench contributed a vital 43 points. The win lifts BC to 2–1 on the season, while Reedley falls to 1–4.
The Renegades will be back in the Rac, on Tuesday Novemeber 11th for a 3:00Pm tipoff against Porterville College.
