BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College men's basketball team picked up a strong road win on Tuesday night, defeating LA Pierce 99–80 at Ken Stanley Court to improve to 8–6 on the season.
The Renegades set the tone early, shooting over 50 percent in the first half and taking a 46–37 lead into the break. Bakersfield continued to control the game in the second half, outscoring the Brahmas 53–43 behind efficient scoring, dominance on the glass, and consistent interior play.
Markell Brooks led all scorers with 21 points while recording a double-double with 10 rebounds. Zykiar Henderson was nearly perfect from the floor, finishing with 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting and pulling down a game-high 14 rebounds. Bakersfield's frontcourt proved to be the difference, as the Renegades outscored LA Pierce 52–32 in the paint and won the rebounding battle 49–40.
The Renegades also saw balanced contributions throughout the lineup. Gustavo Chavez knocked down three three-pointers for nine points, James Miller added 11 points off the bench, and both Godwill Fomusoh and Damari Davis chipped in 10 points apiece. Bakersfield totaled 23 assists on 38 made field goals, highlighting strong ball movement throughout the game.
Defensively, Bakersfield forced 13 turnovers and converted them into 17 points, while also scoring 25 second-chance points thanks to 23 offensive rebounds.
With the win, the Renegades continue to build momentum as they head into the heart of their conference schedule, which will start on Wednesday, January 7th at home against Santa Monica for a 5:00 tip-off.
