BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College Renegades earned a convincing 82–66 victory over Santa Monica College on Wednesday evening at the Renegade Athletic Complex, improving to 9–6 on the season.
Bakersfield set the tone early, taking a 38–30 lead into halftime behind strong interior play and aggressive defense. The Renegades continued to build momentum in the second half, outscoring the Corsairs 44–36 to secure the win.
Zykiar Henderson led all scorers with 19 points while posting a double-double with 11 rebounds, anchoring Bakersfield on both ends of the floor. Zach Garnett added 17 points and eight rebounds, while Markell Brooks chipped in 13 points and six rebounds. The Renegades also received solid production from the bench, outscoring Santa Monica 30–20.
Bakersfield dominated the paint, holding a 56–38 advantage in points inside, and capitalized on Santa Monica turnovers, scoring 32 points off 32 Corsair miscues. The Renegades also controlled the glass, outrebounding Santa Monica 47–38 and converting 23 second-chance points.
The Renegades shot 45.5% from the floor and showed balance offensively, finishing with 18 assists on 35 made baskets.
BC will continue conference play at home hosting West LA next on Saturday, January 10th for a 3:00 PM tip-off.
