GLENDORA, CA - The Bakersfield College men's basketball team dropped a road contest to first-place Citrus, falling 109–78 on Wednesday evening at the Owls' Nest.
The Renegades were led offensively by Markell Brooks, who had an efficient night, scoring a team-high 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting while adding five rebounds. Godwill Fomusoh posted a strong all-around performance with 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block, and Damari Davis contributed 13 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Zach Garnett chipped in 10 points and six boards, while Elijah Wade added eight points and three assists.
Bakersfield stayed aggressive inside, scoring 48 points in the paint, but Citrus capitalized on perimeter shooting and turnovers to build separation early. The Owls shot 45.8 percent from three-point range and converted 35 points off turnovers, helping them take a 54–37 halftime lead.
Despite shooting 50 percent in the second half, the Renegades were unable to slow a balanced Citrus attack that saw three players score 20 or more points.
Bakersfield finished the night shooting 47.2 percent from the field and outrebounded Citrus on the offensive glass, but Citrus' depth and transition scoring proved to be the difference.
The Renegades move to 10–9 overall and 2–3 in conference play and will travel to LA Valley on Saturday.
