Renegades Open Season 2–0 After Strong Weekend at Riverside

RIVERSIDE, CA. - The Bakersfield College women's basketball team opened the 2025–26 season with an impressive weekend sweep, defeating Riverside 67–46 on Friday before rallying past LA Harbor 80–71 on Saturday at the Title IX tip-off tournament hosted by Riverside College.

On Friday, the Renegades dominated defensively in their season opener, holding Riverside to just 21% shooting from the field. Danika Tolentino led all scorers with 22 points, adding six rebounds and four steals, while Jamie Neaderbaomer chipped in 11 points with a pair of threes. Lailene Araniva was a force inside, posting a 15-rebound double-double with seven points, and Alexia Ramirez added 10 points and 11 boards. Bakersfield's defense created 16 steals and turned them into 17 points off turnovers to seal the 21-point victory.

The Renegades carried that momentum into Saturday's matchup against LA Harbor, overcoming a slow start to take control in the second half. Beautiful Vasquez exploded for 28 points on 12-of-22 shooting, leading a balanced offensive effort that saw four Renegades score in double figures. Tolentino followed with 17 points and five rebounds, while Ramirez again filled the stat sheet with 11 points and 11 rebounds for her second straight double-double.

Bakersfield's depth proved key, as the bench combined for 41 points, and the team forced 24 turnovers, converting them into 33 points. The Renegades shot 37% from the floor and outscored Harbor 48–32 in the second half to secure the win and move to 2–0 on the season.

Bakersfield returns to action next week, heading out for another road match against Gavilan before its home opener on Saturday, November 8th against LA Mission.
