Women's Basketball goes 1-2 at the Santa Ana Tournament

SANTA ANA, CA - The Bakersfield College women's basketball team traveled south for the Santa Ana tournament over the weekend and went 1-2.

In the first game on Thursday evening, Bakersfield College improved to 8-1 on the season with a hard-fought 60–54 victory over Pasadena City at the Santa Ana College tournament. The Renegades surged in the second half, outscoring the Lancers 24–19 in the third quarter to erase a halftime deficit and regain control of the game. Danika Tolentino led all Renegades with 17 points and eight rebounds, while Alexia Ramirez delivered a strong two-way performance with 12 points and nine boards. Jamie Neaderbaomer added nine points, knocking down three key three-pointers to keep BC's offense steady.

Defensively, Bakersfield held Pasadena to just 27.5% shooting and came up with nine steals, turning pressure into 14 points off turnovers. Bakersfield also won the rebounding battle on the defensive glass, pulling down 28 boards to limit second-chance opportunities. The Renegades closed out the fourth quarter with composure at the free-throw line and timely defensive stops to secure the win and continue their strong start to the season.

In the second game of the tournament, BC fell to San Diego Mesa, 66–55, despite a strong offensive performance from Tolentino, who led all scorers with 24 points on 10-of-22 shooting. The Renegades kept the game within reach behind steady contributions from Lailene Araniva and Mia Samaniego with eight points each, while Diamond Brownlee anchored the boards with a team-high 12 rebounds. Bakersfield battled through shooting struggles and a tough rebounding margin, but Mesa's 18 second-chance points and 19-of-24 performance at the free-throw line proved to be the difference.

In the final game of the tournament, the Renegades fell 79–59 to the host team despite strong efforts from several key contributors. Tolentino led the Renegades once more to end the weekend, with 18 points and six rebounds, while  Neaderbaomer added 19 points and went an impressive 10-of-12 from the free-throw line.  Araniva posted a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards, but Bakersfield struggled with shooting consistency, finishing at 30% from the field and committing 31 turnovers. Santa Ana capitalized with 40 points in the paint, 29 points off turnovers, and a big third quarter that created separation.

The Renegades are back on the road this weekend to take on Cuesta College on Saturday, December 13th for a 3:00 PM tip-off.
