BAKERSFIELD, CA. - In a defensive showdown Wednesday night, the Bakersfield College women's basketball team came up just short in a 51–50 loss to LA Valley. The defeat moves the Renegades to 18-9 overall and 10-3 in conference play.
The game was tightly contested from start to finish. Bakersfield held a slim 23–18 advantage at halftime and carried a one-point lead into the fourth quarter after a competitive third period. LA Valley used a late push in the final minutes to edge ahead and secure the narrow victory.
Jamie Neaderbaomer led the Renegades with 20 points, knocking down four three-pointers while adding five rebounds. Lailene Araniva contributed nine points and nine rebounds, and Diamond Brownlee controlled the glass with a game-high 12 rebounds. Danika Tolentino added eight points and five boards, while Alexia Ramirez pulled down seven rebounds and recorded three steals.
Bakersfield battled on the boards, finishing with 43 rebounds, but struggled offensively, shooting 28.8 percent from the field. LA Valley capitalized inside with a 20–14 advantage in points in the paint and received a strong performance from Aliyah Muhammad, who finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
In a game defined by defensive intensity and limited scoring runs, the Renegades were unable to find a final basket in the closing moments as LA Valley escaped with the one-point win.
Bakersfield will travel to College of the Canyons for its final regular season, conference match up on Friday before finding out if they will compete in post season. Further information will be posted on the website.
