Women's Basketball Finish 2nd in Conference with a Final Regular Season Road Win

SANTA CLARITA, CA - Bakersfield earned a dominant 70-52 road victory over Canyons on Thursday night at Lee Smelser Court, improving to 19-9 overall and 11-3 in conference play.

The Renegades used a strong defensive effort to take control early, holding Canyons to just eight second-quarter points and forcing 31 turnovers, which turned into 42 points on the other end. Bakersfield led 35-24 at halftime and never looked back.

Danika Tolentino paced the offense with 25 points, knocking down four three-pointers and adding eight steals in an all-around performance. Jamie Neaderbaomer contributed 13 points, while Alexia Ramirez added eight points and went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Lailene Araniva and Beautiful Vasquez combined for 14 rebounds to help anchor the effort.

Despite shooting 30 percent from the field, Bakersfield's defensive pressure and ability to capitalize on turnovers proved to be the difference in the 18-point conference win.

BC will finish 2nd in the Western State Conference and await its seeding and match-up for the playoffs next week.
