Women's Soccer Grab First Ever Win over SBCC in Program's History

BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Bakersfield College women's soccer team made history on Tuesday afternoon, earning a 2–0 victory over Santa Barbara City College at the BC Soccer Field. The win marks the first time in program history the Renegades have defeated the Vaqueros, securing a landmark moment for the team and the program.

BC struck early when Kaylee Broome buried a shot in the 3rd minute off an assist from goalkeeper Addyson Evens, giving the Renegades an early spark. Later in the first half, Bakersfield doubled the lead when pressure inside the box forced an own goal from Santa Barbara, pushing the score to 2–0 by the 28th minute.

From there, the Renegades leaned on their defense, home-field advantage, and the outstanding play of Evens, who finished the day with eight saves to preserve the clean sheet. Bakersfield held off a heavy Santa Barbara attack that tallied 20 shots, including 13 in the second half, but never broke under pressure.

With the victory, the Renegades not only improved their record but also etched their names into the history books, proving that Bakersfield College women's soccer is ready to rise to new heights in 2025. BC moved to 2-1 on the season and will travel to Folsom Lake next Tuesday, September 9th.
