Gallardo’s Early Goal Lifts Bakersfield Past West LA, 1–0

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College women's soccer team secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over West LA on Friday afternoon, picking up their third conference win of the season at 7-6-1 (4-2-1 WSC).

The Renegades struck early in the 17th minute when sophomore Alexandra Gallardo found the back of the net with a powerful finish to put Bakersfield ahead 1–0. The goal would prove to be the difference-maker, as BC's defense and goalkeeping held strong for the remainder of the match.

Goalkeeper Mercedes Ramirez was exceptional between the posts, recording 10 saves to earn the shutout. Despite West LA's 19 total shots (13 on goal), Ramirez and the Renegade backline stood firm to preserve the clean sheet.

Offensively, Bakersfield tallied six shots, with Gallardo leading the attack with four shots and three on target.

The win keeps Bakersfield in strong position within the conference standings, currently straddling third. The Renegades will start the second half of conference play starting Tuesday as they travel to Santa Monica.
