Renegades Battle Back to Draw 2-2 with LA Valley

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College women's soccer team showed grit and determination on Friday afternoon, rallying from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw against LA Valley at the BC Soccer Field.

LA Valley struck early, finding the back of the net in the opening minutes and again midway through the first half to take a 2-0 advantage. But the Renegades came alive after halftime, generating 13 shots in the second period and turning up the pressure on the Monarchs' defense.

Sophomore Alexandra Gallardo got BC on the board in the 69th minute off assists from Cierra Franks and Jaxi Hagen, cutting the lead in half. Just fifteen minutes later, Melody Christian delivered the equalizer in the 83rd minute, converting on a setup from Gallardo to level the score.

Goalkeeper Mercedes Ramirez anchored the defense with nine saves, keeping the Renegades within striking distance throughout the match.

Bakersfield finished with 19 total shots, including 12 on goal, while allowing 11 shots from LA Valley.

With the draw, the Renegades move to 7-7-2 overall and 4-3-2 in conference play, as they look to host Canyons on Tuesday for a 4:00 pm kickoff.
