Bakersfield Advances to Second Round for the First Time in School History After 1–0 Victory

BAKERSFIELD, CA - History was made on Wednesday afternoon as the Bakersfield College women's soccer team earned its first-ever trip to the Second Round of the 3C2A SoCal Regionals, defeating No. 18 San Diego Miramar 1–0 on the BC Soccer Field.

In a tightly contested playoff match, the Renegades controlled the run of play from start to finish, outshooting the Jets 24–8 and applying relentless pressure in the attacking third. Despite numerous early chances, including five shots on goal from Alexandra Gallardo and seven attempts from Delilah Cardenas, the match remained scoreless deep into the second half.

The breakthrough finally came in the 83rd minute. After 80 minutes of persistence, Gallardo delivered the decisive moment, firing home the game-winner unassisted to send the home crowd into celebration. Bakersfield's defense held strong behind goalkeeper Addyson Evens, who recorded four saves and kept Miramar off the board to secure the shutout.

With the historic win, Bakersfield (11–7–4) advances to the Second Round of the SoCal Regionals for the first time in program history. The Renegades will now travel to face the No. 2 seed Santiago Canyon on Saturday, November 22 at 2:00 PM.
