Renegades Battle in Five-Set Thriller Against Antelope Valley

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield College women's volleyball team put up a hard-fought effort Friday night but came up just short in a five-set battle against Antelope Valley (22-25, 25-17, 25-15, 23-25, 16-18) inside the Gil Bishop Sports Center.

The Renegades showed resilience throughout the match, taking control in the second and third sets behind strong offensive performances from Anahi King and Alexandra Watts. King led BC with 17 kills, while Watts followed closely with 14 kills and five total blocks.

Lainey Sterling added 11 kills with a .257 hitting percentage, and Maya Barron directed the offense with 43 assists, contributing 15 points of her own through kills, blocks, and aces.

Defensively, Chloe Lopez anchored the back row with 20 digs, and Amanda Zepeda chipped in nine digs and four aces from the service line.

Despite the late push from the Renegades in the fifth set, Antelope Valley held on to take the win.

BC will travel to Glendale College on Wednesday, November 5th, before returning home on Friday for their Sophomore Night game.
