Bobcats end 11 year playoff drought

Bobcats end 11 year playoff drought

The Saddleback women's tennis team qualified for the California Community College Athletic Association Southern California Regional Playoffs and will travel to Bakersfield College for a quarterfinals match on Tuesday.  The berth in the playoffs was the first since 2011.

Saddleback finished the regular season 8-2 overall and 4-2 in Orange Empire Conference play.   The Bobcats were seeded sixth in the southern half of the state.

Saddleback will play at Bakersfield College, who finished 11-4 overall and won the Western State Conference with a 10-2 record.  The Bobcats and Renegades have played only one common opponent this season in Orange Coast College.  Bakersfield lost to Orange Coast 2-7 at the beginning of the year while Saddleback's only two losses of the season were to the Pirates (1-8 & 2-7).  Orange Coast was named the top seed on Saturday and will host Ventura College on Tuesday.

Saddleback's berth in the playoffs was the first since 2011 when the program finished 13-2 overall and reached the quarterfinals.  The last time the program advanced past the quarterfinals was in 2010 when they finished 18-0 and won the state title.
