Softball conference double header against Santa Monica

Bakersfield College Softball (7-6 overall, 3-1 WSC) put up 50 runs and 50 hits as they beat Santa Monica 25-5 and 25-1 in WSC action Tuesday.

In game 1, Alexis Solis led the Renegade offense going 5 for 5 with 9 RBI, a triple, a homerun and 2 stolen bases.  Every Renegade in the lineup had multiple hits in the 24 hit effort.

Pitcher McKenna Valencia was 2 for 2 with a double, a homerun and 5 RBI to help her efforts on the mound.

Valencia now is 5-5 on the season took the win giving up only 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 10.

Catcher Naizemarie Ubay was 3 for 3 with a triple. Michell Puente and Kathryn Alderete also recorded doubles for the Renegades.  Bakersfield's defense was not as solid as Coach Christie Hill would have liked "We did not come out ready to play in the bottom of the first inning, we were flat footed and were not ready to play our game." The Renegades committed 4 errors in the game with 3 or the 4 coming in the first inning. 

In game 2, the Renegade offense continued right where they left off in game one.  Solis tacked on 2 more homeruns and 7 RBI, for a total of 3 homeruns and 16 RBI for the day!  Alderete was 4 for 4 with 5 runs scored, 1 RBI and 3 stolen bases to help lead the Renegades.  6 other Renegades recorded extra base hits in the game.  Yesenia Saldana recorded her first career homerun while going 3 for 4 with 4 RBI.  Zaily Luna and Chelsey Herrera recroded 2 doubles each in the game while teammate Janelle Guiteirrez added a triple and a double.  Bakersfield starter Solis started off a little shaky giving up the only corsairs run of the game.  After the first inning, Solis only allowed 4 hits while striking out 2.
