The Bakersfield College Beach Volleyball Team qualified four of five doubles teams at the Western State Conference Individual Doubles Beach Championships at Ventura College Friday, April 28th, 2017.

The qualifiers, #1 Mackenzie Hernandez & Hannah Pope, #2 Brooke Horack & Jourdan Muro, #3 Alex Paris & Reece Stevenson, and #4 Mckenna Baameur & Savanah Cano will compete in the CCCAA State Beach Tournament this weekend on May 6th & 7th at West Valley College.

Hernandez & Pope lost a very close semi-final match 15-13 in the 3rd set, and finished in 3rd place overall, the highest finisher for the Renegade teams.

"I am very proud of our beach volleyball team, and very happy for the four teams that qualified for the state tournament.  These exceptional student-athletes have worked very hard adapting to the different skills necessary to be successful beach players.  Beach volleyball is a very different game from indoor, and it's been incredible watching our players improve and compete," said coach Carl Ferreira.

In addition to the WSC Individual Doubles Beach Championships, the Bakersfield College beach volleyball team qualified for the CCCAA SoCal Regional Beach Team Championships on Tuesday May 2nd at Mira Costa College.

The Renegades will play both Mira Costa College and Riverside College, looking to earn a spot in the CCCAA State Beach Team Championships on Friday May 5th
