The Bakersfield College Men's Basketball team opened their 2016-2017 campaign with an 83-64 win at the Santa Monica Tournament Friday.
Jamar Hammonds led the Renegades with 16 points, but Jaylunn English 15, and four other players scored in the double digits for BC.
"We gave up too many points to them, and we've got to get our turnovers down, but this is a good win," Coach Rich Hughes said.
AJ Murray scored just two points, but he dished out 10 assists and pulled down five rebounds.
"He wants to fill that hole left by Jameik (Riviere), and so he's playing unselfish basketball," Hughes said.
BC plays host Santa Monica Saturday.
