Norman Abbas (125) and Jake Maas (174) both led the 'Gades with 5th place finishes at a very competitive tournament.
"17 of the 20 teams in the state were there this year. We had guys with six and seven matches. This is a tough tournament. They battled. I think maybe only one guy went 0-2, everyone else won at least one match," Head Coach Bret Clark said.
Sophomore leaders Torrey Casper and Josh Davis had difficult tournaments albeit for different reasons.
"Torrey is a 125 pounder trapped at 133s," Co-Head Coach Marcos Austin said, "He wrestled tough but was in a very competitive bracket and placed 6th."
Davis is being watched closely after returning from an injury suffered at the state tournament two years ago.
"It was a precautionary thing. We want to make sure it's 100 percent. He's coming off a horrific injury two years ago. where he tore everything in his knee apart," Coach Clark said, "We gotta keep plugging away. In no way was this weekend a setback from our huge weekend at the Mt. SAC duals."
Jose Robledo finished in the top 8 at 197.
The Renegades wrestle next Friday October 2nd at East Los Angeles College.
