BC WRESTLERS CHASE ALL-AMERICAN HONORS AT STATE

Norman Abas won his first consolation bracket match Saturday with a 13-9 decision over Tyler Poallilo of Santa Rosa Junior College. Abas is now on the tough road to 3rd place. He'll wrestle once more to determine whether he's going to be wrestling in the 3rd/4th place match or the 5th/6th place match.

"It's a serious grind," Coach Marcos Austin said, "You've got to win a lot more matches to win 3rd place than you do 1st place. And while it's a bummer to lose on the first day, 3rd place is good for All-American status."

Jose Robledo is the only Renegade still in the running for a state title, and his coaches feel like he's in the right frame of mind and physical shape to do it.

"He beat XXXX at Cuesta, but he's got to be ready to wrestle. He's turned a corner, he's excited and we are going to have a good day today," Austin said.

Zach Mitchell and Josh Davis will wrestle later in the day.
