Wrestling goes 1-2 in BC Dual Tournament

Bakersfield, CA - The Bakersfield Renegade wrestling team went 1-2 in today's BC Dual Tournament. Combined with Friday's victory over Victor Valley, they went 2-2 on the weekend.

Today they started by facing off against Cerritos College who was tanked 4th in the state last year and looks to be tough again this year. The Renegades lost 36-12 picking up wins by Emmett Kuntz at 149 by fall over Dauerty from Cerritos, 184 pound returning All American Jeremy Maas by a decision of 5-3 and a major decision by 197 pound Kevin Mello.

Next up the Renegades took on the 3rd place team from last year in Sacramento City College. This was another tough loss by the Renegades, 35-15. Picking up wins in that match were Pedro Ramirez at 125, Alexis Beccerra at 141 and Jacob hall by fall at 285.

The last match of the day was against the 7th ranked team in the staet laste year in Santa Ana and the Renegades picked up the win 30-20.

"It was a good day," Coach Brett Clark stated, "We got a lot of quality matches in for our guys, against quality teams and individuals. We have some work to do but that is to be expected. These are just the first matches of the year we want to peak at the end of the year. Every tournament is a building process for our team and each individual."

The Renegade wrestling team will next be in action on the road on Saturday, September 15th at the Sacramento City Tournament, which is slated to start at 9am.
