Baseball Drops Lead in the Seventh, Leading to Loss

Bakersfield, CA – The Bakersfield College Baseball Team hosted Golden West College on Thursday evening in game one of a three game home-stand at Gerry Collis Field and came away with a 5-4 loss

The Rustlers managed to put two runs across in the top of the fourth to break open the scoring for the game. In the bottom of the fourth BC bounced back. Trey Harmon doubled into deep left field with the bases loaded to bring in two runs. One more run scored on the next batter, Kamron Willman, who reached first on an error.

Willman scored in the sixth from third base on an errant throw from the Golden West pitcher trying to pick-off the base runner.

In the top of the seventh, Golden West had an offensive surge and brought across an additional two runs to take the lead back for the rest of the game at 5-4.

Alejandro Murillo got the start at pitcher for BC and worked seven and a third innings while collecting three strikeouts. Chris Rodriguez entered the game to relieve the rest of the inning and then was replaced by Benji Caggianelli who finished the game.

With the loss, BC drops to 7-5 overall.

The Renegades host the Rustlers again tomorrow, Friday (2/15), at 2pm and Saturday (2/16) at 12pm.
