Baseball Shuts Out Reedley, 4-0

Bakersfield, CA – The Bakersfield College baseball team hosted Reedley College Wednesday afternoon at Gerry Collis Field after beating the Tigers 8-2 on the road yesterday, and came away with a  4-0 victory.

The Tigers loaded the bases in the top of the first inning but BC's starting pitcher, Nathan Ortiz was able to get out of the jam unscathed by retiring three Reedley batters to end the inning. Kamron Willman drove in the Renegades first run on a grounder up the middle into centerfield that brought in Ashanti Ross from third. They added a run in the bottom of the fourth off a Sage Voda grounder that scored Will Reynolds.

In the bottom of the eighth, Willman hit a deep ball into right field that was bobbled and dropped by the Reedley right fielder, which scored Isaac Ramos and Ross and extended the BC lead to 4-0.

Nathan Ortiz started the game on the mound for the Renegades and went the first four innings with six strikeouts and no runs. Gabe Ulloa came in to pitch the next three innings with one strikeout and three hits. Benji Caggianelli came in to finish the game in the ninth.

With the win, BC improves to 24-13 overall and remains 14-4 in conference.

The Renegades last regular season home game is this Friday (4/19) at 1:00pm against Cerritos College. They also look to clinch the WSC South Division Championship this coming Tuesday (4/23) at 2:30pm at LA Mission.
