Baseball Drops Game Two And Series To Cypress

Bakersfield, CA – After a game one loss yesterday to Cypress in a best of three CCCAA Southern Regional Round playoff, the Renegades looked to bounce back with a win in game two of the series to stay alive. They did mount a comeback in game two after falling behind 9-1 early in the game, but eventually lost the game 11-8 giving Cypress the series.

Matt Patton put the Renegades out in front first in the top of the second with a sacrifice fly to left field that brought Trey Harmon across the plate. Cypress answered back immediately in the bottom half of the inning exploding for seven runs to take the lead, 7-1.

The Chargers later added to the lead, putting two more across in the bottom of the fourth.

BC finally responded in the sixth with a Sage Vode two RBI single to right field that brought home Harmon and Hector Ruvalcaba. Ashanti Ross followed that up with a three RBI double that brought home Voda, Matt Patton and Ryan Dickerson to bring the Renegades within three runs at 9-6.

In the seventh, Harmon reached first base on an error and advanced all the way around the diamond to score on Cypress errors to cut the lead down to two runs for the Chargers.

Cypress came back to score two runs in the bottom of the eighth to pad their lead at 11-8 which became the final.

Nathan Ortiz started the game on the mound for the Renegades. He went a full seven innings with four strikeouts, allowing eight hits and nine runs. Gabe Ulloa came in to start the eighth inning and finished the game.
