Renegades Nab their First Win of the Season

BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Bakersfield College baseball team won their first game of young season beating Taft college 6-3 at Gerry Collis Field on Saturday evening.

Bakersfield opened the game with a run in by Andrew Townson at the bottom of the second inning from a double to left field hit by Miguel Castillo. That run would be answered back not much later at the top of fourth from Taft to tie the ball game 1-1.

The Renegades built a larger lead into the fifth scoring three runs (4-1). The first off Jarrett Brannen's single who helped send Jordan Lopez home with a throwing error. The next from Townson who reached on a fielder's choice to get Jacob Baker in to score for BC and the last from an unearned run.

Cougars managed to bring the ball game to only behind one run scoring two RBI's at the top of six. Fortunately, BC responded right back. Sophomore Grant Holleman scored by a fly out ball to right field from Baker. Then Jose Ruiz doubled to left center to bring Brannen in top lead 6-3.

Kyle Langston got the start on the mound for the Renegades and collected his first win of the season after six innings worked with four strikes. Dylan Pavletich pitched the final three innings collecting five strikeouts.

With the win, the Renegades are no 1-1 at the start of the season. Tomorrow they host Moorpark College at 5pm to wrap up opening weekend.
