Moorpark, CA - The Renegade football team reeled off a much-needed victory over the Moorpark Raiders led by three rushing touchdowns from Isaiah Martin. The 38-18 victory gives Bakersfield it's third victory going into the final week of the season.
Moorpark didn't prove much of a test for the Renegades throughout the first half as Martin scored two of his touchdowns on shurt runs and QB Larry Harrington scored his first touchdown of the season off a quarterback sneak in the second quarter. Paxton Winders tacked on his eighth made field goal of the season from 34 yards away to give the Renegades a 24-0 lead at the break.
Harrington found Cole Beaty on a passing strike in the endzone to give the freshman receiver his second Renegade touchdown. Capping off the scoring for Bakersfield in the fourth quarter was Martin with his third touchdown run from four yards out to give him eight total touchdowns on the season.
Moorpark was able to stave off a shutout by scoring three touchdowns in the second half but were unable to convert any of their point-after attempts. Over the course of the game the Raiders turned the ball over five times on fumbles recovered by the Renegades, many of which Bakersfield converted into points.
Leading the Renegades offensively was Harrington who was 5 of 12 passing for 49 yards with one touchdown while carrying the ball 24 times for 61 yards rushing. Martin finished the night with 13 carries for 67 yards and the three touchdowns. Zach Hernandez and James Johnson anchored the Renegade defense. Johnson accounting for eight total tackles, one fumble recovery and one sack. Hernandez contributing five total tackles and two fumble recoveries.
