Men's Soccer Drop a Tough Game at Home

BAKERSFIELD, CA – A quick goal in the first minute from freshman Colin Uzih gave the Bakersfield College men's soccer team a whim of confidence it needed to go against the Santa Monica Corsair (5-1-4). The Renegades played tough, but SM played tougher and outscored BC, 3-2.

The first goal of the game was from Bakersfield but shortly after Santa Monica were able to find the back of the net themselves and tied the game in less than fifteen minutes in. Bakersfield was able to hold on defensively in the first half, but the Corsairs kept majority of possession.

Three minutes into the second half Santa Monica scored their second goal of the game and then their assuring goal around the 20th minute. After many heated conversations, a couple of cards, and a few fouls, BC's Andrew Carrasco added a goal. The Gades tried to play the ball quickly once more but time was not on their side as the referee blew the final whistle without adding extra time to avoid more conflict.

With the loss, the Renegades move to 3-5-3 on the season. Up next, they will head out for a road match at Oxnard on Friday and return home next Tuesday, October 11th to start conference.
