Softball Captures Dramatic Opening Day Win

Bakersfield, CA – The Bakersfield College softball team hosted Santiago College for Opening Day 2019 on Saturday night at the Dean and Adah Gay Sports Complex and came away with a dramtic 6-4 victory.

Alexis Lopez brought home the first run of the year for BC on a RBI single in the second inning. The Hawks evened things up at 1-1 in the third after driving in a run.

Kylee Fahy put the BC back on top in the 6th with a two-run home run over the left center fence. In the top of the 7th SCC managed to put 3 runs across the plate to go up 4-3.

The Renegades would not go away easily though and ended the game in exciting fashion on a Natilee Parrish three-run home run in the 7th to give BC the opening day victory.

Fahy had the start and win at pitcher for the Renegades. She had 10 strikeouts, allowing five hits and one walk on the night.

With the win, BC moves to 1-0 on the season.

The Renegades will play a double header at home tomorrow facing off against San Mateo at 11am and Mt. SAC at 1:30pm.
