WOMEN'S HOOPS HEADS TO SANTA ANA TOURNEY THURSDAY

The Bakersfield College Women's Basketball team (1-5) will open action against San Bernardino College (0-5) at 6pm o

n Thursday, with action continuing through December 3rd for qualifying teams.

The Renegades are coming off an 87-60 win over Victor Valley on November 22nd that showed how conditioning and creativity are key to their success.

BC exploded in the second half, thanks in part to the entrance of Octavia Croney, who had only been cleared to play that very day after wisdom tooth surgery hadher sidelined from all basketball activities the previous week. She was six of eight shooting from the floor and led BC in scoring with 14 points.

She also chipped in three steals, and "...really showed what we can do in our half court offense," according to Coach Paula Dahl.

Mackenzie te Velde was also six of eight from the field, and gave BC a solid inside presence.

On a recent episode of "The Renegade Report", guard Julie Olvera thanked Strength and Conditioning Coach Zack Peters for giving the team that extra edge in competition.

"Really, he's another member of the staff," Olvera said, "He's a coach who has definitely asked more from us in the weight room, and it's paid off on the court."
